Contribute to a national Birdwatch, in your own garden!
Are you a fan of nature, in all it’s glory? Maybe you’re thinking of picking up a new casual hobby? Perhaps you’re a science fan, and would like to help a project on a huge scale? Well then look no further than the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, this weekend!
This weekend, the RSPB would like to encourage people to participate in its Big Garden Birdwatch; the aim of the project is to map out the current state of UK wildlife, and discover what the UK’s top 10 most common birds are, by crowdsourcing information from as many people as possible. Last year, over 500,000 people contributed to the project, giving information from their own garden, to produce a catalogue of the UK’s wildlife. Over the 30 years of the projects lifespan, the British public have helped the RSPB to monitor the state of Britain’s wildlife, monitoring trends and understanding how our blackbirds, robins and wrens are doing.
The RSPB website features a download for a free pack, containing all the info you need on how to contribute to this exciting project. They also list a number of activities which you can do to help birds in your local area, all of which would make an excellent addition to your garden. Plus, the RSPB will be hosting fun days at a number of locations around the UK.
Over at Gardens & Homes Direct, we stock a wonderful range of products just right to get the birds singing for you, like these Window Mounted Easy View Nesting Boxes, this Bronze Bird Bath & Feeder, and this Lechlade Bird Table. So give mother nature a hand and revitalise your garden by transforming it into a haven for our feathered friends.
So, if you’re stuck for ideas this weekend, give birdwatching a go, and help the RSPB out, all from the comfort of your very own garden!
And don’t forget, we’re still taking entries for our Valentine’s Day competition until the 7th of February, so get your entries in and you could be the owner of a delightful bistro set! thanks for reading, and have a lovely weekend.
